Am I having an Affair with my Postie?

Maybe husband hasn't noticed how often Mr Postman comes to our front door - if he I'd I'm sure he's have his suspicions:

The first visit was to bring me a package from the lovely (and tolerant) Meg at New Threads.

The conversation went "Can I have a box of Aurifil please . . . but can I have a mixture of 40 and 50 weight please . . . and can I choose the colours , . . . and no I don't have numbers for all the colours . . . um . . .  not quite off white, more a milky coffee sort of colour . . ." all this by email about 11 o'clock at night - Meg you are customer service personified!

The second visit from Mr Postie came from the equally lovely Katherine at Quilt Direct - again email convos at a time when people should be having their own life, not helping me ponder the great questions such as What size hexi templates do I really want, and is my fabric big enough?, add to that a big can of lazy baste, or 505 at it's trading name, and giving me advice too, fab!

Thirdly, a super quick delivery from Jaycotts, with more Brother orange thread  for the pumpkins I am embroidering (plus spare black, and some new needles)

Finally the word has obviously not gone out to ignore me as an online customer . . . I first met Cindy when she hosted the Goodie Swap last year, and have been a regular visitor to her blog ever since.  She has now opened Fluffy Sheep Quilting as an on-line store, and I managed to mess up my first order (totally my fault, not hers or the site's fault), so THAT took emails to sort out, but was so worth it . . .

I got the Kona Coal and the dark Violet as I think both will look fab with the hexies, thank you Cindy :-)

Creative Kids, and an ooops

Yesterday was the last Children's Holiday Fun session at Chertsey Museum, and today I have been learning to make computer mosaics over at Big Huge Labs, so here is (hopefully) a mosaic of the customising and accessorising that was going on yesterday (more details on the Fun With Fabric blog)

The reason I needed to learn how to make a mosaic, is a Aurifil competition that Lily is hosting - and I would love to win 12 Aurifil threads of my choice.  I thought the hard part would be the mosaic, but it was actually choosing the colours!

Anyway, I went (surprise surprise) for a rainbow theme, and this is my mosaic:

 (It's one of 178 on Flickr at the moment, so I don't much fancy my chances, but I do love the colours!)

On to ooops - can you please make sure that the door is closed, the phone switched off, and there is no-one hiding under the desk or looking over your shoulder . . .as I have been a bad girl!

It's just SO easy. 

I sit at the computer, follow a link or two, press a button or two, and then postie arrives and that's when I realise what I did...

From Prints to Polka Dots . . .  these yummy fabrics arrived

And from Quilt Direct I ordered a felting tool, and some pre-cut paper hexies for these lovely muted greys and purples left over from this project and this project, 

 And I also got an iPhone 4 cover that is prepared so it can have cross stitch embroidery done to it - now I just need to think of a design for it, and that will be part of Niki's birthday pressie

Have I got enough hiding places?

Colour coding

A hundred years or so ago, when I was doing my O'levels and A'levels (translation for non UK residents - school leaving exams at 16 and 18, O=Ordinary, A=Advanced) I spent ages designing revision timetables - different colours for different subjects.

By the time I was happy with it, the first day had usually passed, so I needed to do a new one so as not to miss out on that subject's revision.  I think there just may have been some avoidance going on there.

The reason I mention it here, is because I found myself this evening colour coding my UFO / To Do list.  The projects which can wait until after Christmas are in green, while the projects I really should be getting on with are in red.  Looks very pretty, but there are still a dozen projects in red!

However, the first Cream Orphan D9P and the second Pure Blue have had the binding machine stitched to the front, so they now just need some hand sewing doing (the pile is now at 5), but Debbie tells me they can wait until after Christmas (have you seen they are in green now!  :-)

Meanwhile,I want to have a rant about my supposed friend Plum - I had a nice day with her and her diddy (!) little machine on Saturday, until I realised she was sewing with Aurifil threads.  I knew something was up as her spools were orange and my quilting thread spools are green.  Do you know she subliminally infected me with her thinking (she must be on commission or something) as last night my fingers did some tapping on the iPad screen, and I suddenly found that I am soon to be receiving
