Star Gazing

I started my Lone Star quilt long after everyone else in the western world, and it had several long "holidays" when no progress was made: mostly due to its difficult-to- manoeuvre size.

But it has finally been finished, bound, and had what I refer to as a haircut.

My next problem was finding somewhere to photograph it!

It's about 240cm x 165cm, (94 x 64")

Blitzing the Binding

I had a whole load of quilts needing binding: I bought the bindi g last weekend (and went back in the week to buy the rest after my previous miscalculation!)
So this weekend I have added binding and more binding and more binding:
One shirt quilt

Another shirt quilt

The rainbow 'floating squares' (LJ 7R) quilt

A boy's ISpy quilt for a friend

And another boy's ISpy quilt for the same friend

A "just in case" ISpy bricks quilt

And an enormous Lone Star quilt

That'll keep me busy for a while!

Essentially Exhausted

Over the last few days I have finished assembling and have actually quilted the Essential Irish quilt -,quite a battle at times, but I'm loving the colours in the darker essential dots from Moda:

I've quilted either side of the chains . . .

. . . which isn't very easy to see, but if you look on the back, sunk into the oh so soft fleece, you can see the quilt lines
As if that wasn't enough with the Essential dots, I've also got as far as I can go with the Essential Dots Lone Star:
I've echo quilted twice both inside and outside the edge of the star, and have also triple quilted another star within the shape

I can't go any further with these until I can buy some more dots for the binding, and I think it will be a while before I work on even one quilt as big as these (lone star is about 2m x 2.5m, and Irish Chain isn't much smaller) let alone two!!
Plans for today include Kids's Crafty Church and a evening Bunting class - followed by a large glass of wine!!!!

Bulk Basting

I've been to mums today and took double advantage of her having uncluttered rooms - at hers there is space to spread out a quilt or two and spray baste them:

Sorbet Squares

And Lone Star

Thanks mummy xxx
