2021 Week 21

 I've seen pics of two gorgeous munchkins on their I-spy quilts this week - my favourite pics!  Thanks to the grandmas for sending them to me!

I stitched a bridge and groom pair of Gingers for a couple getting married at church

And I went to help empty a lady's craft room - oh my gosh soooooo many planned projects - this is just (some of) the wool - she also stitched, did paper crafts, bead crafts, wire crafts and so many others - this has made me think about how much stuff I have and who will empty it out when I go (Plum and Jackie the girls say they are calling you and walking away LOL)

And this is some of the embroidery kits, other kits, sizzix dies, painting stuff and rubber stamps she had.  There are some needle punch tools priced 2 and 6!!!!! 

She had two or three identical (unopened) packs of some of the wire craft gadgets and tools

As a break from the sorting I did some sewing - I wanted a small handbag just to carry my phone so I made this

It was only when I went to use it that I realised the zip was inside out so it will be re-designed!

I've now had my second jab and the sun has been shining and is predicted to carry on for a few days yet  - got to count the positives!

I should have listened!

When I asked for suggestions for putting the badges onto football shirts the general advice was to stitch onto a patch and stitch the patch onto the shirts.

Well I ignored you

And I shouldn't have

To start with it went OK, not brilliant, but acceptable

But then . . .

I did all the usual, change the thread, change the bobbin, change the needle, but it still shredded the thread and made a pig's ear of the shirt.  So I've given up on 'my' idea, and I'm reverting to 'your' idea and will spend the evening stitching patches onto football shirts.

Sigh!

Shouldn't use machinery under the influence of Day Nurse

I've been fighting with 'The Lurgy' since Wednesday, and finally gave in and got some of the magic potions that are sold under the name of Night Nurse and Day Nurse.  They really do sort out the snuffles and the sore throat, but not the muddled brain!

I had an embroidery order for a customer/friend.  I knew the brain was a bit fuzzy, so to be on the safe side, I did a test stitch.  This worked well, so I embroidered the baby blanket.  The blanket went well.

I didn't want to waste the test stitch, so I though I'd make a little taggie thingy for the baby too.

I used some of the new ribbons I got at the Knitting & Stitching show, and although it needed a press and some quilting I was quite pleased with it . . . 

 

Until I turned it over

So now I have wasted not only the test stitch, but also loads of bits of ribbon, and some precious scraps of Sweetwater Pure fabric, not to mention time I could have been sewing something pretty, not something destined for the bin.

Sigh :-(

I decided to have another go, so I cut off the seams and made it smaller

And got the chance to use the Aurifil quilting threads, with some FMQ. 

FMQing is SO much easier with the right threads!

Oooops!

I just popped along to the Bishops Centre while Niki was at work for 2 hours.  The Bishop Centre is a retail park with a number of outlet shops

I popped into Lands End, and got this scrummy HUGE canvas bag (saved £15) and a black warm coat (reduced from £99 to £20:50!!!), then next door to Josef Seibel shoe shop and I got some patchwork leather boots (saved £27:50), and next door again was Cargo where I got two fleece blankets (saved £2).

 Then at Creative World, three Inktense pencils jumped into the shopping basket, along with some felt, some alphabet stamps, some fabric pens, some silk flowers, some candle wicks and some fabric dye, and finally at the junk/antiques shop there was a lovely square glass vase/candle holder calling my name, and of course I could afford them out of all the money I had saved :-)
