And a go at cheat Batik (using blue Elmer's school glue and watered acrylic paints). This is the result after machine washing, the bolder colours are definitely better
After Jackie left I made Lisa a document pouch

And then I got a text from a friend. She had already asked me to make an I-Spy quilt for a new great nephew that was due, and he has now arrived and his name is Ely. I did check with her as the two boys I know with that name spell it Eli. No, definitely Ely.
I embroidered the name and machine stitched the binding to the front. I then spent a lovely hour in Lisa's room, sitting comfortably and cosily hand sewing the binding on while listening to an audio book . . .

I'm now making a quilt for Ely!!!! Luckily I had pre cut squares of all but two of the fabrics!

I can just picture the look on your face when you realized what had happened - I personally would have screeched a bit (if I were home alone, of course), then I probably would have stomped my feet :D Well - some Eli is going to get a very lovely eye spy quilt, and Ely will get one as well, just a bit later than originally planned!

ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I would make a brand new quilt if I mucked up even though I know I could unpick that entire square and patch another in. It seems easier to start fresh.
And now I want a panaramic bed. Awesome shape. lol
not come across the elmer glue batik method before it has worked well. Interesting the photo of the bedroom do nat have a clue how you took it, presume you have an extra special camera. Shame re spelling but Eli seems to be popular at the moment so hopefully you will find a home for it, some great fabrics you have used
