Waiting for the Weekend

Work, life, family and "stuff" seems to be claiming a disproportionate amount of my time at the moment, and sewing time seems to be very occasional.

Some days I don't even make it to the sewing room, but I try and tack a few more Hexies, or sew another flower together most evenings as I spend a bit of time with husband (usually watching TV, but at least I'm there!!!)

So my collection of rainbow hexi flowers are growing- 57 completed flowers, and the makings of probably the same again

I've also been doing some work on the Aqua Christmas quilt. It's now been basted and quilted

I know what I want to do for the binding - but not how to do it!

I want prairie points,

and I need them to be held in place with the binding

And I want them sticking out

But I have no idea how to turn the corners - it doesn't work doing the normal binding corner method. Suggestions welcome!

  2. No clue either - good to see someone else making it more difficult than it has to be.
I am making a baby quilt with those pop-up triangles. Just bought the flannel for the backing this morning.

it seems as if you could sew the binding behind the points and hand-sew down. Then top-stitch the binding down to help hold the prairie points out.

Either that, or treat like rick rack and sew top to back with points inside and then turn and topstitch edges.

  4. I'm not sure what is happening at the back, but that last picture looks great. Can you sew it down with a couple of rows of top stitch?

  5. I think the computer and my job have eaten my life o.O Still, looks like you've been busy in the last couple of weeks even if it doesn't feel like it to you :o)

  6. I think you should have added the points to the flimsie before layering. Quilt to just short of the edge and when you put the points pointing out you can fold the backing under and sew to the back. Does that make sense?

  8. Could you add the binding/facing like this at the corners? http://thesillyboodilly.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/tutorial-super-duper-easy-way-to-face.html Would that work?
